A group of ten convicted of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A persistent unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens ignored any factual proof contradicting her allegations choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
